Leaded Lights from Tunbridge Wells Glass Works.
Tunbridge Wells Glass Works have been manufacturing and restoring traditional leaded lights since 1949. They can be made to your own design or you can visit us to view some of the designs we have here. We have a large range of glass and coloured glass and will be happy to discuss your requirements. Our manufacturers have decades of experience and are passionate about their craft.
We can manufacture or repair a range of lead lights from basic cabinet lights, doors, windows, right up to large one-off designs as seen in churches and pubs. If it is necessary to have sealed double glazed units then self-adhesive lead can be used to give a similar effect whilst maintaining energy efficiency. This can be used with a coloured film to create designs that mimic traditional leaded lights.
Stained glass has always been a character feature in older properties and, with the demand for double glazing growing, too much stained glass is being lost forever. We are aware that leaded lights can be draughty, but this is mainly due to the age of the window and, unlike sealed units in double glazing, leaded lights can last for over 100 years before they need any real restoration work. In order to retain your traditional stained glass we recommend the use secondary glazing to improve energy efficiency.
